About the Center

Neuropsychological and Educational Testing

The Lihn Center for Psychology is a leader in the diagnosis and remedation of Learning disabilities and ADD/ADHD. The Center is highly regarded for its comprehensive evaluations.

How can our evaluations help you?

Our thorough evaluations for pubic and private school students, and our personal dedication to helping you and your child set us apart from other programs.

We focus on your specific needs and include a list of recommendations that support your learning process. These include ideas for parents, suggestions for teachers, and descriptions of your learning profile.

Our evaluations identify your optimal learning style, and benefit children, college students, and adults.

Why are people referred for testing?

We can pinpoint a specific Learning Disability and/or Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADD/ADHD). If you require documentation to be considered for accommodations on standardized tests such as the SAT's, LSAT's, Bar, Step exam, or for college, a specific battery of tests will be prescribed.

Our Center also provides evaluations for individuals who need psychological testing (depression, anxiety, etc.), personality assessment, or neuropsychological testing for forensic reports. Questions about testing will be directly addressed by our Director, Licensed Psychologist, Dr. JoAnn Curcio Cohen.

What does testing entail?

Your testing will begin with an in-depth consultation including medical family, and academic histories. This creates a blue print of your strengths and weaknesses.

Because a learning Disability and ADHD cannot be diagnosed by one specific test, we use a series of standardized cognitive and psychological assessment measures covering multiple skill areas.

How long does testing take?

The time it takes to complete your assessment may vary from 3 hours on one day, to 2-3 hours on several days. If you do not live in the area, arrangements can be made to complete the evaluation during your vacation. Typically the testing process takes 3-4 weeks, followed by another 4-5 weeks to complete the interpretation and report once all documentation is received in this office.

Who will get a copy of your test results?

Your test results are strictly confidential unless you direct us in writing to provide a report to another individual or organization(typically a school, college official, physician, or therapist).
